Cite-free blogging!

I was going to work up a link-rich post on this subject, but then I thought, screw it, here goes: If Rudy Giuliani wants to win the presidency, he needs to run as a Democrat. C'mon! Pro-choice, pro-gay marriage, wore a dress, lipstick and wig on Saturday Night Live, and as I recall, had a very ugly divorce with his second wife. That's not going to clear the religious right of the Republican party.

Update: Related stuff here.

Nancy,

I don't disagree with you on this. While Hillary is changing her stripes & moving to some sort of elusive please as many as possible center & not solidly committing to either side so to speak, Guiliani's core leanings belie his in-name-only party affiliation. He's just taking up space in a crowded pack.

But then again I live in California and have seen our governor go through the same sort of morphing to the other party...

Holy crap, you're right! He'd smoke the other Democratic candidates on national security, where they always get pounded. I'd probably even vote for him, given my current choices.

Found you via your comment on Cathy's blog. Always nice to read something fresh, especially someone not that far away.

Welcome, matt! Ooh, that didn't sound right.

Dear Ms. Bystander Smarty Pants,

In the most recent FOX News poll, 34 percent of registered voters surveyed said they would vote for me in the 2008 GOP primary compared to 22 percent for McCain and 3 percent for Romney. Former House Speaker Newt Gingrich won 15 percent of that vote. With 65 percent, I also was at the top of the list of candidates who voters said they would be at least somewhat comfortable with as president.

Rudy

PS. I only left her because I thought I had a shot at you! Damn you Gene Matocha!!!

You have a better chance of making it through the general election, but you have to make it through the primary first, Rudy, and that's where the religious right holds a lot of control.
