It breaks my heart.

What's always so interesting about these deniers is if they truly believed they were right in their view that the Holocaust was fictitious, why even bother with someone like Wiesel? If I'm convinced in what I believe to be truth, I really am not too phased but others' take on the matter. Which always makes me think these nutjobs don't disbelieve it occurred but perhaps are unable to absorb that mankind can be that sort of monstrous evil, or, they simply are just nuts.

It made me particularly sad for Wiesel who has already suffered enough pain in this life and now in his twilight years, should know only quiet and peace like I feel most old people deserve, maybe one like him especially.

The world is flat! The Sun revolves around the Earth! Tomatoes are poisonous! Swallow a fingernail and a hand grows in your stomach! The holocaust never happened!

Oh the things idiots say.

The one question mad-man-ahjad has brought up that I found a little interesting was something like “if Germany/Europe committed the holocaust then why were the Israelis given land in the Middle East instead of in Europe.” How did it work out that way? Anyone know?

I do not mean to diminish the horrors of the holocaust, but even by the most conservative counts Stalin killed more people than Hitler, and the following are the best guess figures (averages from numerous accountings of each) of some of the mind boggling losses of life last century. So why are we as a society so fixated on only the holocaust?

This is a very, very violent world we live in.

WW I – 15 million
WW II – 50 million
Cambodia – 1.6 million killed out of a population of 7 million.
Russian Civil War – 9 milion
Stalin – 30 million
Congo Free State – 8 million
Kinshasa Congo – 3.8 million
China, Nationalist Era – 3 million
Rwanda and Burundi – 1.35 million
Ethiopia – 1.4 million
Nigeria – 1 million
Bangladesh – 1.25 million
Mozambique – 1 million
Afghanistan – pre US invasion – 1.8 million
Sudan 1.9 million
