Coolest non-candidate ever!

Fred Thompson smacks down Michael Moore. I had no idea Moore had challenged him to a debate. (via The Corner.)

That was beautiful! I'd love to see him in a debate where he would just run over Hillary or Obama. Fred Thompson in '08!!

Sounds unanimous! Extra points to Thompson for getting the thing out so quickly, swatting Moore away without effort.

I saw Fred Thompson up close at one of David Horowitz's events in 1998 when Thompson was head of a Senate subcommittee investigating the Whitewater matter, a big GOP hope at the time. Thompson was very funny. "I wanted to come here this morning and violate my oath of office by telling you some confidential testimony before the committee that would shock you and probably change the course of history...But David asked me to stick to marginal tax rates..."

Big laugh. Everyone loved him.

It's a great anecdote, Gary M. I think Thompson's has better presence than Reagan, though admittedly, I was about 13 when Reagan came to office and not paying much attention.

Thanks, Dana. These last two weeks have been the busiest and most hectic in a long time. I hope things will quiet down this week. I'm lurking though--don't think I'm not lurking!
