Interesting

CNN picked up my post (scroll down and click on 'From the Blogs') about Lori Drew and it brought a few hits, as well as comments.

I wonder why they picked me?

Update: I've had over 500 visits in the last few hours. The 'From the Blogs' box has a 'Powered by Sphere' link. Clicking over, its logo has the tag line 'Connecting Blogs and News.' Hmmmm... I wonder what search engine they use to pick the blogs which connect to the news?

There must be a Bystander fan at CNN! :)

Didn't you also get Instalanched a few years ago, before I was around?

I didn't think of that--maybe somebody from j-school, but I doubt it.

I did get instalanched once when I made a fussy remark about the Pope's fussy remark about Abu Ghraib. I really thought he should be cleaning up his own house (which had problems for, oh, decades) before making remarks about how dirty ours is, which was brought to light and prosecuted by the military.

Hmmm. One has to wonder if every bit of YOUR house is clean?

The whole idea of "Judge not lest ye be judged" comes into play, here, does it not?

Then again, if we TRULY had that kind of system in place, we wouldn't have a criminal justice system, would we?

Sometimes it's needful to point out the ills of others, even if we're sick, too.

Heh. Wonder away! I do not claim perfection, but I do claim never to have abused with intent to harm anyone. Other than that, my house is a bit dusty.

Sometimes it's needful to point out the ills of others, even if we're sick, too.

In general, I agree with you, but I was thrown off by the audaciousness of the Pope's remarks since hundreds (or thousands?) of the faithful were being sexually abused under his watch. The Catholic church let those abuses go by for decades without prosecuting the priests or protecting the children. The military let it go a few months. So, it was a little more than the pot calling kettle black. It was more like Bed Bath and Beyond franchise calling the kettle black.

Thanks for your comment.

Confucius have comments for Holy Fathers: Be not ashamed of mistakes and thus make them crimes. To see the right and not to do it is cowardice.

Sadly, still, the Catholic church is rationalizing and justifying and oh, yeah, paying off victims to go away lest the church have to own up to their crimes WITHOUT EXCUSE.

Dearest Bystanders,

As to challenging the authority of the papacy, making the Bible more accessible to ordinary people, and founding Protestantism my theology and insight were erudite!

However if I were to do it all over again, I’d probably leave out the parts about destroying Jews' homes, burning their synagogues, confiscating their money, and curtailing their liberty. I was just drunk one night and said a bunch of things I didn’t really mean.

Begrüßung,
M.L.

PS. Thanks for thinking of me Vivian!
