Both lists

Blacklist to black list.

"When the blacklist hit, I saw actors walk across the street to avoid me. The doorman at 485 Madison Avenue (former CBS headquarters) turned his back as I walked by. But I never felt hated by the ring-wing blacklisters. They just felt we were terribly wrong," he said.

"These days, the left doesn't just disagree with right-wingers - they hate them. People actually shudder when I tell them I'm a Republican. I should have to carry a bell and yell, 'unclean.' It doesn't bother me, though. I've been on both ends. Being hated is like voodoo. It only works if you feel hated. And I just won't. I know it will pass."

He's right about that feeling hated part, you know.

"A moose has come out of the impenetrable wood."

Why are We Fat?

One of my favorite lines from Absolutely Fabulous comes when Edina is complaining about her weight to her daughter, Saffy, and Saffy tells her if she took in a little exercise and stopped eating so much, she'd lose weight.

Edina replies, "Don't be ridiculous, darling. If it were that easy, everyone would be doing it."

The LA Times has a collection of theories of why we are fat. I'm stuck on the exercise thing because I don't have time for regular exercise anymore and I can't get control of my weight because of it.

I was visiting my husband's grandfather the other day. At 81, he goes to the gym three times a week. But he said there were times in his life when just don't have time for exercise. I think I'm going through one of those times right now... although ... I could be out power walking instead of blogging right now...

Oh, the guilt!

Obama's Emergency Landing

I've never heard of an emergency slide accidentally deploying in flight either, and I wonder if the secret service is looking into this. Hat tip: Instapundit.
